Project Home Renno: Getting it Together- Guest Room Part II.

Well friends, I'm not sure if you noticed, but I was delinquent in posting this past Monday.  Life is just going to be like that for the next two weeks as our wedding reception approaches on the 30th.

Anywho, the Mr. & I worked like mad over the weekend (and me into Monday) finishing up the final details of our guest room re-do.  Since last week when I made the room's throw pillows & curtain , we've now completed that room, finally!  Take a look around:

The bed area was pretty easy.  We already had this bed frame (Target) & these sheets.  I simply flipped the quilt to the white side, added a tan throw blanket we already had, and finished it off with one of my newly made throw pillows.

The night stand was a score on sale for $42 from Hobby Lobby.  I painted it white, added some white books for decoration & our existing lattice pattern lamp which I LOVE from Target.

We moved this armchair from our currently deconstructed living room.  More on that later, but the chair no longer fits there, so this is it's new home.

I'm also in LOVE with this print "5 Stacked Whales" from United Thread that I just bought, and of course peeking from the corner are my older, but beloved prints from Rachel Austin .

We moved my book shelf in here that was clogging up our entryway, so now I've created a nice little reading nook for when guest are not occupying the room.  I haven't yet mentioned the rug, which was previously in the basement and is no longer needed in there, but fits perfectly in this room.

Remember this guy ?   Well, after a repaint with the same color as the nightstand, he looks pretty spiffy and new right?  I bet you would never guess his age now (25!).

For now this brown blanket will do as his pad, but I've bought some foam and plan to cover it with the same fabric I've used throughout the room.  So I guess I'm not finished finished in here, but close enough for me!

From this experience I learned 2 very valuable lessons:

#1- Look carefully around your house before making any new purchases for a room.  You might just find something that fits better elsewhere and save $$.

#2- Magically, with an anchoring color or two, brown & grey do go together!

Question- Do you have any large home projects you recently got to cross off your list?

Congrats on the room, it looks great.

I have projects that I need to hire others for: a new patio door, carpeting, and a new furnace. I'm not sure what we'll be able to tackle first, but I know I can't stand the carpet anymore.

The guest room look perfect and so comfortable to stay in! The bench looks amazing. Like brand new!!! Definately a great tip to look around the house to "repurpose" things you already have.

I love that you were able to reuse several things from other areas if the house! And that you're so crafty you did everything yourself! Your guest room turned out great!

Your guest room is coming together beautifully! I love the colors. I would enjoy staying there. It's always great when you can pull furniture or other items you already have at home to complete projects like that.

We would really like to get out back door project finished up this summer. What's left isn't a huge project, but we're ready to have it done.

It looks wonderful! See, brown and gray can be friends. :-)

I like your top about "shopping" in your own house before you buy anything new. That's brilliant.

sad to say, I haven't done anything new. But DH does a lot with electronics (and now the heat&air) in the house. Love your pillows!
